With 2 major league baseball teams, an NFL team, and the famous Bulls dynasty, everyone knows Chicago is a mecca for sports lovers. But the way those teams were being covered by the media-inspired two passionate sports writers to offer a new perspective and fill the void of Black voices in the industry. Combining their backgrounds in journalism and sports, Terrence Tomlin & Eugene McIntosh created The Bigs Media to provide a platform that athletes, from preps to pros, can trust. Since 2015, The Bigs have delivered sports coverage with a purpose and now, with their show “On The Soil”; Using authentic storytelling through a cultural lens and engaging interviews with some of the sports world’s biggest stars they are bringing fans closer to the game than they’ve ever been. As the only independently owned sports media outlet in Chicago to be credentialed to cover all of its major professional teams, The Bigs Media is blazing a trail and changing the way sports are being covered, all while remaining loyal to the true essence of Chicago sports.
